Heart-warming community spirit fuelled sparks of generosity at a Firewalk event held at Bushey’s Metropolitan last week in aid of local charities One YMCA and Home-Start Watford and Three Rivers who provide vital support, safety, and stability to local families, young people, and vulnerable individuals who need it most.

The early evening event took place thanks to sponsorship from JHP Electrical Services & Sports Lighting Specialists, and saw brave participants dash across hot coals to raise funds for the charities. Over forty individuals took on the Firewalk challenge with participants ranging in age from 12 to 80. Friends and family came along to cheer their support and buy raffle tickets, making the event such a fun and memorable one.
One YMCA’s Head of Fundraising, Corporate Partnerships & Marketing Donna Lawrie said, “I am so proud to have overcome my fear knowing that the funds raised from this event will make a big difference to the lives of the more vulnerable in our community.”
The charities expressed their thanks to the wonderful participants and to all those involved in making the event such a success. Appreciation also goes to UK Firewalk for running the event so professionally and safely, and to Buttercup Photography for capturing the fantastic moments throughout the evening. Over £7,000 has been raised from the event to be split equally between One YMCA and Home-Start Watford and Three Rivers. The two charities welcome further donations at One YMCA & Home-Start Watford & Three Rivers Firewalk 2026 – JustGiving which will go to provide safe nights of accommodation for those experiencing homelessness, mental health support, and vital family support services.
