Wheels for Europe will be bringing eight classic vehicles from mainland Europe to Watford Town Centre as part of a visit celebrating friendship, motoring heritage and Watford’s long-standing connection with its twin town from Germany: Mainz.
Come along to admire the vehicles up close, chat with their owners and take photos with your favourites. Whether you are a dedicated motoring enthusiast or simply passing through town, everyone is welcome to stop by and enjoy the display.

About Mainz – Watford’s twin town in Germany
Mainz is the capital of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Located on the River Rhine, the historic city is known for its Roman heritage, impressive cathedral, wine culture and connections with Johannes Gutenberg, whose development of movable-type printing transformed communication across Europe.
Watford and Mainz officially became twin towns in 1956, making 2026 the 70th anniversary of their partnership. It was the first official international town-twinning relationship for both places.
A shared connection with the history of printing helped bring the two towns together. Gutenberg pioneered movable-type printing in Mainz, while William Caxton introduced the printing press to England. The partnership was also founded on a shared desire to strengthen international understanding and friendship following the Second World War.
Over the decades, the relationship has grown through school and youth exchanges, cultural events, sport, music, tourism and visits between the two communities.
The visit from Wheels for Europe is another opportunity to celebrate the enduring friendship between Watford and Mainz—this time through a shared love of classic vehicles.
