Watford Town Centre BID have announced a brand-new community event celebrating Emergency Services Day, World First Aid Day and National Fitness Day all rolled into one!
Watford Town Centre Wellbeing Day takes place on Saturday 14 September between 10:00AM and 2:00PM across The Parade, and includes a variety of stalls, activities and guests themed around the emergency services, first aid, fitness and mental health. You’ll be able to learn from local paramedics, take part in outdoor exercise classes, play a spot of mini golf, sit inside a fire engine and much more! The full range of activities and guests can be found on the ‘What’s On’ page of watfordtowncentre.com.
Emergency Services Day (9 September), also known as 999 Day, is your chance to support the heroic men and women of the NHS and emergency services. 999 Day promotes the work of the emergency services, promotes using the emergency services responsibly, educates the public about basic lifesaving skills, and promotes the many career and volunteering opportunities available.
World First Aid Day (14 September): The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) introduced World First Aid Day in 2000. Each year, more than 100 Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world organise events and ceremonies on the second Saturday of September to raise public awareness of how first aid can save lives every day and in situations of crisis.
National Fitness Day (18 September): Having started back in 2011, National Fitness Day has seen millions get involved each year, bringing people together through physical activity to have a hugely positive impact. The campaign has evolved to encourage everyone to view this day as just one step in a much bigger journey.
Kara Mesiano, Watford Town Centre BID’s manager, said: “We are excited to introduce a brand-new event to our town which focuses on wellbeing and community. Herts Police, Watford Fire Station and Watford paramedics are all fundamental to our local area, and we’re thankful that they will be present at our event to educate locals on the services they provide to our community.
As well as celebrating Emergency Services Day and World First Aid Day, we’ve also included National Fitness Day in our event so that we can have fun outdoor activities for the public to get involved with. Fitness4Less, NRG Gym, Puttshack and Inhale Pole all have sessions for your friends and family to enjoy in between shopping, eating and drinking in our wonderful town.”
A huge thank you must go to the local nonprofit organisations and charities signed up to attend Watford Town Centre Wellbeing Day. They allow you the opportunity to learn first-hand about their support and the amazing work they do in our community. We invite you to bring friends & family to pop along to The Parade to have some fun whilst learning more about the many aspects that go in to keeping a community safe, healthy and happy.
