Watford Clarendon Business Improvement District’s (BID) ballot period commenced on Friday 20 February 2026 and will be open until Thursday 19 March 2026, allowing businesses on Clarendon Road and Station Road to vote in favour or against a first BID term from 2026 to 2031.

On week commencing Monday 16 February 2026, ballot papers were delivered by Watford Borough Council tothose organisations eligible to vote.  Those organisations can vote “yes” or “no” for a first BID term which would commence on 1 April 2026 and run up until March 2031 if a successful “yes” vote is declared on Friday 20 February 2026.

The 2026-2031 business plan includes a detailed breakdown of Watford Clarendon BID’s commitments for over £1.8 million worth of reinvestment for the area and its businesses.  This includes enhancing the Clarendon experience, promoting Clarendon Road as a premier business location, supporting business growth, championing collaboration and embracing sustainability and innovation.

Will Watford Clarendon BID be separate from Watford Town Centre BID?

If there is a successful ‘yes’ vote for Watford Clarendon BID, a whole new BID will be formed and it will not alter Watford Town Centre BID’s levy rules, budget or operations. Both Watford Town Centre BID and Watford Clarendon BID would be managed by the same company – Watford BID Ltd – to bring synergy between the two areas.

How will Watford Town Centre BID and Watford Clarendon BID work successfully in tandem?

The BID team will consistently work to find collaborative opportunities between the two BIDs. One example is our commitment to enhance the Clarendon experience with projects such as cleanliness, maintenance and public realm enhancements – which will not only benefit Clarendon Road, but it will simultaneously improve the gateway into Watford Town Centre from Watford Junction station, thus encouraging more visitors.

Another example is with exclusive discounts for Watford Clarendon and Watford Town Centre businesses – we want to encourage local employees to shop & eat in local businesses at lunchtime and after work, and we also want to encourage local employers to use suppliers from the BID areas. We will dedicate resources to ensure that both Watford Clarendon and Watford Town Centre businesses benefit.
