If along the way you fancy purchasing the town’s ‘crown jewels’ well, you can, for just MONOPOLY Money!

Next week it is being announced that Watford is getting its very own version of the world’s most famous board game.

The new game will see the town’s leading landmarks replacing the likes of Mayfair and Park Lane from the original classic London MONOPOLY board.

At the announcement, it was revealed how Watford has beaten a host of other places in a 20-way race across the UK based on three factors: ‘Sense of Family Values’; ‘Civic Pride’; ‘Beauty’. “Watford ticked every box for us,” says Yasmin East from Winning Moves UK.

Also at the announcement, the public have been invited to send in suggestions for landmarks and organisations to feature in the game. Expected to lead the way, predicts Ms East, will be Vicarage Road Stadium, Warner Bros. Studios, the Palace Theatre, the Harlequin Watford, Cassiobury Park and the Town Hall. In all, more than 30 Watford leading landmarks and organisations will feature on the board

“We are sure we are going to be wonderfully spoilt with choices when putting this game together,” adds Ms. East, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK.

Winning Moves UK – an official MONOPOLY maker – is producing the brand-new MONOPOLY: Watford Edition board game, under license from Hasbro, a leading toy and game company. Winning Moves UK makes MONOPOLY editions for places all over the world, including high-profile cities, such as Palm Beach, Dubai and The Hamptons.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, says: “MONOPOLY is recognised around the world, so it is really exciting to be working with Winning Moves UK on an official Watford edition of this game.

“Watford has a brilliant range of landmarks and organisations, all of which help define our town’s character.

“This edition will provide a unique opportunity to showcase what makes Watford so special.

“I look forward to residents and organisations helping shape the board through their suggestions – as well as playing it with my family when it reaches homes in time for Christmas 2026.”

The board will be themed in sets from heritage to entertainment, shopping to sport, business to leisure – and more, each genre to reflect the verve and vibrancy of Watford. The train station set – comprising of four main-line stations in the original classic London MONOPOLY – will take on a ‘travel’ theme.

The public is invited to suggest Watford landmarks to feature on the famous MONOPOLY spaces, as well as wording for the Chance and Community Chest cards. Suggestions can be made by email to: watford@winningmoves.co.uk  Nominations will be accepted for consideration from 10am next Tuesday (3 February 2026) until 23.59pm on 28 February 2026.

The game will hit the shops in time for this Christmas (2026).
