
Watford Town Centre BID is one of only 345 Business Improvement Districts in the UK. We’re a non-profit organisation funded by almost 500 businesses and organisations in Watford, including Harlequin Watford, Watford Borough Council, and the retailers, restaurants, cafés, bars and hospitality venues that make up Watford Town Centre.
The Watford Town Centre BID team delivers events, provides business support services, and works with partners to create a vibrant, safe and successful town centre for businesses, residents and visitors.
Role Title: Digital Marketing Executive
Service Area: Business Improvement District Industry
Hours: Full Time – 37 hours per week
Salary: £26,000 – £27,500
Reporting to: Head of Marketing & Events
Purpose of the Role:
We are looking for a motivated and creative Digital Marketing Executive to support the digital presence of Watford BID Ltd including the Watford Town Centre and Watford Clarendon BID brands. This role is ideal for someone at the start of their digital marketing career who is keen to build experience in content creation, social media and website management.
You will help create engaging content for watfordtowncentre.com and manage day-to-day activity across the @WatfordTownCentre social media channels, promoting retailers, events and campaigns that bring the town centre to life. You will also support to define and drive the brand-new new Watford Clarendon BID brand.
Full training and support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Website Content
- Assist with creating and updating content on watfordtowncentre.com, including news posts, blogs, event listings and retailer features.
- Ensure website information is accurate, clear and up to date.
- Support basic SEO tasks, such as adding keywords and optimising page content.
Social Media
- Support the management of @WatfordTownCentre social media accounts (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok).
- Help plan, create and schedule social media posts.
- Assist with capturing content at events, promotions and seasonal activities.
- Monitor comments and messages and help respond in a friendly, on-brand way.
Content & Campaign Support
- Help with digital marketing campaigns to promote town centre events, retailers and initiatives.
- Work with the wider team and local businesses to gather content ideas and information.
- Assist with reporting on website and social media performance & insights.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Essential
- A strong interest in digital marketing and social media.
- Moderate experience creating content (e.g. through education, volunteering, personal projects or internships)
- Good written communication skills.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms.
- Basic IT skills and confidence using online tools.
- A willingness to learn and try new ideas.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Connection to the local area or knowledge of Watford as a town.
- Experience using creative tools such as Canva or Adobe.
- Experience using scheduling platforms such as Hootsuite.
- Experience using CMS such as WordPress.
- Experience using email marketing platforms such as MailChimp.
