Watford Borough Council is proud to announce its continued support for Herts Pride, which will be held in Cassiobury Park for the 8th time since its inception in 2013.
The event, which was first held at Cassiobury Park and has also been hosted in various locations across the county, has brought together thousands of people to celebrate diversity and inclusivity. It returned to Watford in 2019 and has continued to be celebrated in open space ever since.
Watford has been a leader in promoting inclusivity, with initiatives like ‘Ask for Clive’ encouraging venues to create welcoming spaces and maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination. Proud Watford, an independent group of local volunteers, also works to celebrate and support the LGBTQI+ community by organising inclusive events throughout the year.
Herts Pride, Hertfordshire’s largest LGBTQI+ celebration, will take place on Saturday 31 August 2024, from 12 PM to 10 PM in Cassiobury Park. This year’s event promises to be a memorable day filled with entertainment, headlined by Gareth Gates and featuring performances by Angie Brown and other talented acts.
The event will also include a dog show with categories like Waggiest Tail and Best Dressed, market stalls, a catering area, and a Community Wellbeing Zone offering information and advice. ‘Proud Portraits’ – a collection of portraits of local Watford people, deliberately not classified by name, age, sexuality, identity – will also be on show at the event.
Tickets for Herts Pride 2024 are available online and at the event. Prices include a Family Ticket for £28 (two adults, two young people, and children under 13), Adult tickets at £12, Young Persons tickets (ages 13-17) at £8, and free entry for children under 13 with a paying adult. Visitors with disabilities pay for their ticket, while their carers attend for free.
